Research Shows The Two Reasons Why People Cheat

Being faithful and loyal is something that is expected of people when they are in a relationship. May it be friendship, family or love, these two important things are what makes every relationship happy and strong.

According to Over Sixty, a New Zealand website, said that there might be many various reasons why people become unfaithful or cheat in the relationship. A research team found two main reasons why people cheat: they are either bored and need emotional support in their relationship. Researchers say that many people think that having a bad sexual life can lead people to cheat on their partners or simply just falling out of love.

Pepper Schwartz, a professor of sociology at the University of Washington said that the first category is for people who are not happy about their sex lives. Even if the sex isn't that bad, just because they have been in the relationship for a long time, they are looking for excitement and something new. These people are not totally unhappy in the relationships or make them want to leave their marriage, they are just looking for excitement, passion and new thrills and adventure.

Professor Schwartz said, "Oftentimes, these people aren't actively looking for an affair, but they take advantage of meeting a cute crush at a conference, workplace or reunion."

Another reason for people to cheat is that because they are deeply unhappy in their relationships. Schwartz said that people don't want to leave for many different reasons like children, money, however these are just something that they think could reinforce emotional pain. Some people just use sex and pursue another relationship.

Social researchers usually find that the main belief why people cheat is because they've either fallen out of love or just they are looking for sex are simply not true.
