‘Baywatch’ Remake Casts Female Lead, Alexandra Daddario Joins Dwayne Johnson And Zac Efron … And David Hasselhoff?

Few shows were as iconic to a decade as "Baywatch" was to the 1990s, giving the world scantly clad women with enormous breast implants running in slow motion towards the beach, making stars out of the likes of Pamela Anderson and Carmen Electra in the process - and there's a new swimsuit gal in town for the "Baywatch" remake!

Weeks back, it was that the "Baywatch" remake, which will be made into a film instead of a new edition of the show, will feature the talents of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as well as Zac Efron in the male leads, but up this is the first female name that's popped up - and it's Johnson's co-star from "San Andreas," Alexandra Daddario!

According to Deadline, before Daddario was officially hired for the leading female part in the "Baywatch" remake, there were a few other actresses short-listed for the role, including "Vampire Diaries" star Nina Dobrev and "X Men: Apocalypse" actress Alexandra Shipp.

Cinema Blend reports that Johnson announced Daddario's casting through Instagram, indicating she'd be taking the role of Summer in the film, which was originated in the series by Nicole Eggert, who played it from 1992 through 1996; it has already been clear that the upcoming film is a reboot with the same characters, and it seems there are more announcements coming soon.

"The #BaywatchFamily so far consists of a tatted up bald guy named Rock, the cool, yet extremely unattractive @zacefron, the talented and gorgeous Alexandra Daddario...and some big casting announcements coming soon," the former wrestler told fans on Instagram, Den of Geek reports, as he announced Daddario's official casting in the "Baywatch" remake. "And juuuuust wait til you guys see who we cast for the iconic role of 'CJ Parker.'"

Of course, C.J. is the character that saw blonde bombshell Anderson skyrocket into fame over 20 years ago, and while the actress isn't too convinced about the remake, her character will be on it nonetheless - and it's unclear whether David Hasselhoff will be involved in the film on any capacity.

More news about the "Baywatch" remake cannot come soon enough!
