Princess Sofia of Sweden Shows Off Baby Bump At the Global Child Forum

Princess Sofia of Sweden has displayed her baby bump to the public for the first time as she attended the Global Child Forum which was held at Stockholm's Royal Palace on Thursday.

The pregnancy of Princess Sofia was first announced by the n October. The royalty was photographed at the event for the first time after the confirmation. The Duchess of Värmland was with her sister-in-law Princess Madeleine who is based in London.

During the event, the wife of Prince Carl Philip gave her speech in which she pointed out the things she has seen while working with a South African children's charity.

"I've seen a fair share of suffering, poverty and neglect. But I've also seen children's eyes light up with hope, as they are empowered to shape their own lives," stated Princess Sofia.

"And I believe hope is justified. Beyond the everyday reporting of disaster around our world, so much good is happening too," she added.

The former model and reality star encouraged everyone to take action and do something for the children in need.

"As our beloved activist Nelson Mandela said, 'It takes a village to raise a child.' And that's exactly what Global Child Forum is trying to achieve," Princess Sofia said.

Crown Princess Victoria who is also the sister-in-law of Princess Sofia took part in the event despite her being absent. King Carl XVI Gustaf's eldest child who is pregnant as well expressed her support and best wishes for the charity though a video link. The spokeswoman of the palace has denied the rumors that the Crown Princess wasn't able to attend the event because of security reasons but due to conflicting schedules.

The Global Child Forum is an annual summit for leaders including 400 business personalities and bankers, government officials and UN representatives.
