Amy Lee Of Evanescence Unleashes Cover Version Of Led Zeppelin's 'Going To California'

The lead singer of the American rock band Evanescence - Amy Lee, has released her cover version of the English rock band Led Zeppelin classic song "Going To California" through her newly launched YouTube channel.

The American singer-songwriter and classically trained pianist - Lee, stated about her decision to cover Led Zeppelin's "Going To California."

"This song of Led Zeppelin is a classic that I've adored for as long as I can remember. It puts me at peace. Jordan, my manager and my friend, had recorded the instrumentation of the track for fun and when I heard it a few months ago, I had in my mind instantly that I had to sing on it. Listening to mommy sing usually helps get Jack into that elusive sleepy place, and this song by Led Zeppelin has been a regular rotation nap-time hit around our house this fall."

Amy Lee said that, as she was gearing up for the November Evanescence shows, and she related how she just really wanted a moment like this in the set of Evanescence.

She showed the Led Zeppelin cover version to Troy McLawhorn (guitarist and backing vocalist of Evanescence),  who made it a personal challenge to acquire the complete skill of a finger-picking-based song, which was outside McLawhorn's comfort zone. And Lee stated that they had so much fun playing  Led Zeppelin's "Going To California live.

Lee stated that, "It's a pleasure to sing a song publicly that is such a part of who I am offstage - my roots, the style of music that we always played around our home when I was growing up, and still at every big family gathering, singing and playing music with my dad." "Hope you enjoy it!"

Evanescence's lead singer previously unleashed her covers of U2's "With or Without You" and "It's A Fire" of the English band Portishead.

The rock band Evanescence recently parted ways with guitarist Terry Balsamo and got on-board Germany's Jen Majura.
