Samurai Jack’s TV Return Ahead: Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim Picks Genndy Tartakovsky’s Cult Cartoon 11 Years After Last Episode! [VIDEO]

For millions of millennials all over the world, Genndy Tartakovsky is the person who shaped their childhood, as he was behind some of the biggest shows on the 90s' golden era of Cartoon Network shows, including "Dexter's Laboratory" and even "The Powerpuff Girls," but one of his latter shows is now making a big comeback with the "Samurai Jack" TV return!

Tartakovsky has most recently taken to the big screen for new projects like the "Hotel Transylvania" movies starring Adam Sandler and Selena Gomez, but fans of his work with Cartoon Network have been claiming for his return to the small screen - and the "Samurai Jack" TV return offers just that!

Over 11 years after the end of the last "Samurai Jack" TV season, when the show ended after 52 episodes when its popularity began to decline, now io9 reports that Cartoon Network has announced the return of the show, with Tartakovsky helming the new material for a whole new season, which should be premiering some time in 2016.

After the end of the "Samurai Jack" TV run, the story has lived on in the form of comic books (much like Joss Whedon's "Firefly" and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), but obviously more casual fans might just prefer to see it in its original cartoon form.

As The Verge reports, the original "Samurai Jack" TV series went on for four seasons and ended up turning into a cult show due to its mixing of sci-fi and samurai mythology.

"Adult Swim is excited to announce that JACK IS BACK," announced the network on the recent announcement of the show's return, via Cartoon Brew. "Creator and executive producer Genndy Tartakovsky continues the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season of episodes that will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2016. The new season is currently in production in Los Angeles at Cartoon Network Studios."
