This Skin Care Company Sells Coffee Grounds As Body Scrub

Coffee doesn't only wake zombies every morning.

Thanks to these three Australian women, the world now knows that coffee can actually be good for the skin.

The Telegraph reports copywriters Bree Johnson, Erika Geraerts and Jess Hatzis founded the skincare line, Frank Body, which sells body scrubs, facial scrubs, face cleansers and everyday moisturizers using coffee grounds as the main natural ingredient.

"Coffee is good for the skin for three reasons," Johnson said. "First of all, it's full of antioxidants which are great for targeting free radicals, second of all it has the the same pH as your skin so it won't dry it out, and finally, it helps stimulate blood flow which is good for collagen production and for helping reduce the appearance of certain skin conditions."

The Melbourne-based skin company was founded in 2013 by Johnson and Co. when her partner, coffee shop owner Steve Rowley, found out why older women kept asking to take away the shop's leftover coffee grounds --- they were using it as body exfoliant.

After hours of researching various DIY coffee scrubs online, the girls also discovered that there wasn't anybody selling coffee scrubs that time. "There was no one really making the product," Hatzis said. "So we played around with the formulas and tried them on ourselves. We felt pretty silly at first, stood in the shower covered in coffee, but the results felt incredible. We'd never really used a body exfoliant that had left us feeling that soft before."

Through their official Instagram pages @frank_bod which boasts about 667,000 followers and @frankbodyfeedback with 73,000 followers, Frank Body has placed itself in the most-wanted market.

"A few months after launching we started getting a lot of really good feedback photos from our followers, so we started this second Instagram page," Hatzis added. "This one is where we can show all the before and after photos sent to us by our customers. We didn't want this to be the hero of the brand, but we like to post quite frequently as the results are so impressive."

Follow Frank Body on Instagram to get your own dose of caffeinated skin products, too.
