Curren$y, or better known as Curren$y Spitta dishes out a hit single 'Bottom of the Bottle'. The New Orleans rapper gathers more and more radio plays. However high his popularity gets, the rapper promises to not sell out.
The underground rapper has gained a fan base solely from his THC-infused song lines and free mixed tapes. Once his single 'Bottom of the Bottle' hit the waves in August which included the voices and help of Lil Wayne and August Alsina it quickly gained traction in the radio waves and the attention of the rap world now turns to him, forcing him out of the underground.
The single is one of the tracks out of his album - 'Canal Street Confidential' that debuted on December 4. The album features a collection of other rappers such as Future, Wiz Khalifa and many more.
The question now is, as appealling as the sales and attention from the audience can be, is Curren$y going to sell out in this new found fame? He assures his original fan base that he'll stay true. "I only brought what we've been doing for years to a bigger platform," he says. "I just got more artillery now by making this move, that's all. It's just bigger beats. The mic might be a little bit clearer."
He can shovel in a considerable amount of sales from his single alone and the release of his album is no doubt going to help boost it in the ranks. Rumors say his fame spiraled to the top because of name dropping. Curren$y can tell you that this was all false tales. He was inspired by friends even way before the album was even created.
His history with Lil Wayne go far back when they were going to school and his long-time friend Khalifa even made him as the godfather to Bash, Khalifa's son with Amber Rose.
Did he know his single was going to be a huge success? He knew it as soon as it reached a wider audience and ".. at the end of the day, it's a bigger world. I'm happy. I can't complain. I would be a fool to complain", was all he can say about it in an interview with EW.
