Conor McGregor is the Rarest of Athletes: One Who Delivers on His Boasts, Jose Aldo Wants Rematch

Conor McGregor walks into UFC 194 like a rooster who constantly thinks it is dawn, braying about the first-round knockout, he was going to deliver to Jose Aldo, a fighter who hadn’t lost a fight in a decade.

On Saturday, December 12, the UFC featherweight event bout between Jose Aldo vs. Conor McGregor was held at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev.

McGregor did exactly what he said he would. He knocked out Aldo 13 seconds into the fight, McGregor’s first punch crashing into Aldo's jaw, dropping him to the mat.

The knockout was the fastest finish in any UFC title fight. "Again, nobody can take that left-hand shot," said Conor said in the post-fight interview. "Aldo's powerful and fast. But precision beats power, and timing beats speed. And that’s what you saw there." he added.

Jose Aldo wants an immediate rematch with Conor McGregor after he suffered his first loss in more than 10 years in Saturday’s UFC 194 pay-per-view headliner.

Jose "Scarface" Aldo was emotional after the defeat as he put a towel over his head to hide his disappointment. His locker-room cam at Las Vegas’ MGM Grand Garden Arena also caught the emotional aftermath.

Aldo was the UFC’s longest reigning champion prior to UFC 194, an honor now passed to flyweight title holder Demetrious Johnson.

The UFC 194 card set a new US record gate of $10.1million (£6.67m) and could also break the company's pay-per-view record of around 1.5m buys.

Conor McGregor now plans to spend time with his family before deciding on his next move.
