“Hobbit” Flight Safety Film Debuts In Air New Zealand

"Hobbit" movie casts teach flight safety in "The Most Epic Safety Video Ever Made" by Air New Zealand.

Air New Zealand's (ANZ) newest in-flight safety video was created with the help of the team behind the "Hobbit" film trilogy. It also includes appearances from the film's cast and crew including Sylvester McCoy, Dean O' Gorman and Elijah Wood.

The "Hobbit" cast help explain airline safety in the most "epic" way as possible.

It's like watching the movie itself. The in-flight film has a wizard, an orc, a giant eagle, dwarves and a battle scene. ANZ's in-flight attendants also participated in the film wearing costumes inspired by movie. Much of the video shows Middle Earth locations which were also used in the movie. More than that, the in-flight video also includes Peter Jackson, the director of both "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogies.

The epic safety video was directed by a New Zealand director, Taika Waititi.

Just like the "Hobbit" films, the in-flight safety video is also a part of trilogy. In 2012, ANZ used a video with the movie's cast but this was before the first "Hobbit" film was released in theaters. Last year, the airline released another safety video called "Just another day in Middle Earth". And now comes the most epic part which as the end says, "Your Middle Earth adventure is closer than you think".

Air New Zealand was one of the first airlines to use alternative in-flight safety videos and has received particular success in the Hobbit-themed versions. Other videos featured Bear Grylls, All Blacks New Zealand rugby team and Snoop Dogg.

The last film of the "Hobbit" trilogy, "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" will hit the cinemas on Dec. 17.
