Tim Cook Apple: First Fortune 500 CEO To Come Out Claims, “I’m Proud To Be Gay”

Since Apple CEO, Tim Cook admitted publicly through an essay about his true sexuality, which was published in Bloomberg Businessweek on Thursday, Cook earned numerous praises from people who understand his stance.

"I'm proud to be gay, and I consider being gay among the greatest gifts God has given me," CEO of Apple says. "It's been tough and uncomfortable at times, but it has given me the confidence to be myself, to follow my own path, and to rise above adversity and bigotry. It's also given me the skin of a rhinoceros, which comes in handy when you're the CEO of Apple."

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO was praised by ex-President Bill Clinton, Facebook's co-founder and chief executive, Mark Zuckerberg, top Google executive, Sundar Pichai and Robert Glaser, chief executive and co-founder of Real Networks since he announced his sexual orientation.

Tim Cook is the first ever executive who came out in the open belonging to the Fortune 500 companies. The gay rights group Human Rights Campaign President Chad Griffin states Apple CEO's announcement will surely save countless lives.

He added, Tim Cook being Apple CEO has always been a role model, but since he claimed that he's a gay publicly, he will serve as an inspiration to many people around the world. So far, more and more praises were received by Cook since the day his essay was published in Bloomberg.

Recently, during the induction of Alabama Academy of Honor, chief executive of Apple Tim Cook spoke of challenging his home state, Alabama to protect gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender rights. He particularly said that Alabama is too slow in protecting people's rights based on sexual identity.

Tim Cook who has been Apple CEO for three years, came out in the open like CNN anchor, Anderson Cooper and NFL player Michael Sam. Their honesty doesn't change a thing. It even led to a broader perspective that people can accept and work together despite various gender identity.
