Saudi Arabia 135 arrests of people across the country include 26 foreigners. The arrested people are suspected to be linked to terrorists groups and are plotting to destabilize the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

On Sunday, Interior Ministry spokesman Mansour al-Turki stated that Saudi Arabia 135 arrests were done to target militants that are suspected to be linked with the Islamic State of the Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) according to Bloomberg.

Mostly Saudi nationals were involved in the Saudi Arabia 135 Arrests. Foreigners who were also detained include people from Syria, Afghanistan, Bahrain, Lebanon, Egypt, Iraq, Ethiopia and Yemen.

The people were arrested due to participation in conflicts such as smuggling of weapons, financing and recruiting for terrorist groups, fighting as militants and plans to destabilize the country through series of attacks were also uncovered.

Among the Saudi Arabia 135 Arrests, 17 suspects were believed to be involved in propagating national unrest by attacking the security forces located in the Eastern part that is dominated by Shia minority community.

The attacks were believed to be retaliation of the militants since the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Jordan joined the U.S.-led coalitions against the ISIL.

Paul Sullivan, a Middle East specialist at Georgetown University in Washington, said in an email statement to Bloomberg that the suspected attacks of the militants are mostly al-Qaeda types. He also stressed that recruitment to Saudi Arabians are easy and penetration to the kingdom has always been successful.

In the recent months, several people were detained and faced death as they were charged involvement in the militant-activities. Saudi Arabia is a significant ally of the U.S. and other countries with it being the birthplace of Islam and Sunni doctrine.

A week ago, before Saudi Arabia 135 Arrests took place, an ISIL-linked media group released a video showing Danish national was being shot by the militants in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The video with audio recording of ISIL leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi was also heard saying Saudi Arabia will have "no more security or rest."
