Woman Gives Birth on Southwest- It was a usual morning Southwest flight that took off around 6:24 a.m. PT. Everything was good. It was a beautiful day, until Captain John Gordy received a call from the flight attendants. A woman gives birth on Southwest!

According to the Southwest officials, a woman gives birth on Southwest while mid-air on Tuesday. Flight 623 left San Francisco and was bound to Phoenix when the pregnant woman started laboring on board. The Southwest pilots immediately diverted the flight to Los Angeles International Airport at 7:30 a.m.

ITV NEWS reports, the woman who gave birth at the Southwest was apparently pregnant for 37 weeks. With the help of the passengers, a doctor and a nurse on board who are also passengers, the woman was able to safely deliver the baby while on her seat.

The woman gives birth on Southwest to a bouncing baby boy. The passengers were stunned, but were all cooperative. They were happy to witness a baby being born while mid-air. All passengers were awesome and were clapping when the baby was born. It was amazing!, a flight attendant said.

As soon as Southwest Flight 623 arrives at Los Angeles International Airport, Los Angeles Fire Department emergency response team were there waiting to receive the mother and her baby. The woman gives birth on Southwest safe and sound. She and her baby were taken immediately to a Southland hospital.

Although there was two-and-a-half hour delay, the remaining 111 passengers were transferred to another Southwest aircraft to continue their travel going to Phoenix.

Southwest Airlines has rule of no flight for pregnant women of 38 weeks. And pregnant women must first seek a doctor's approval prior the flight.

The woman who gives birth on Southwest and the baby are now recuperating. The woman who delivered the baby mid-air in Southwest was not the first one. On Dec.5, 2009, a woman also delivered a baby boy while mid-air. The flight took off at Chicago and had to be diverted to Denver International Airport to assist the mother and baby.
