Google Vs. Apple: Who will Dominate the Dashboard Market?

When Google hosted a boot camp in Mountain View, California for their Android operating system, they notice that they were some new faces in the room which are auto manufacturers. They made a trip to learn about Android Auto wherein it is a new dashboard system that is creatively developed and designed to let a smartphone power a car's center screen. After years of being treated as an interesting side business, autos have become that newest obsession for Silicon Valley, with Apple assigning about 200 people to work on electric vehicle technology and Google saying it envisions the public using driverless cars within five years.

In the coming months, dealerships around the country will start selling vehicles that are capable of running Apple CarPlay, Android Auto or both. According to NY Times, the systems go far beyond currently available Bluetooth pairing for playing music or making a hands-free call and at the same time allow for Apple's and Google's operating system to essentially take over the center screen and certain buttons within the car. At Google's headquarters, Android Auto is about to make its debut in American's cars after two years in development. The Apple's CarPlay competes with Google's Android Auto in the infotainment systems industry.

Based on BIDNESS ETC, both companies extend their rivalry from the smartphone market to the car infotainment system industry. Apple Company prepared to launch their Apple CarPlay and Google is also set up to bring their Android Auto to the market after developing it for two years. Furthermore, both companies have focused their efforts towards auto industry. Apple Inc has dedicated and committed engineering team that has in-depth knowledge and expertise in the field of EV technology. Google is also claiming to launch a driverless car five years from now. The operating systems of both companies take control of the central screen and central buttons in the car.
