If you follow a diet low in calories, cholesterol, or even fat, you may reportedly feel lighter and refreshed.

Only 1.62 million people in the United States follow a vegan diet. Celebrating Veganuary is the only way they reportedly can increase the number of people who adopt a vegan diet, which now accounts for barely 0.05% of the population.

During the Veganuary in 2023, it was reported that 700,000 people worldwide attended and promised to do this diet. On top of that, there are already a lot of vegans that are healthy and active in the world. Over 36% of people who committed kept their diet soon after.

The Vegan Society's VeGuide app, released in 2018, is packed with recipes, encouragement, and information to assist you in transitioning to a vegan diet. Influencers Jay Brave, Mic the Vegan, and Rae Likes Froot Are the ones who offer the brief videos that are included in the free-to-download program that covers essential topics for 30 days.

How to Start a Vegan Diet?

Experts recommended taking things slow and steady instead of diving completely into a vegan diet for the first time. A diet consisting solely of plant foods will not be sustainable if it makes you feel starved or too restricted. Thus, here are some of the suggested ways to start a vegan lifestyle.

1. 'Meatless Mondays' is an excellent way to start and observe how you feel about it, says Beth Kitchin, a retired assistant professor of nutrition at the University of Alabama in Birmingham and registered dietitian.

2. Take into consideration a vegetarian January that does not include any meat but does include eggs and dairy products. Ashley Gearhardt, a psychology professor at the University of Michigan and the director of the university's Food and Addiction Science & Treatment Lab, indicated that increasing the amount of plant-based meals one consumes could be attainable.

3. Make an effort to adopt a vegan diet on three days of the week while maintaining a diet primarily composed of plant-based foods on the remaining days of the week. Madelyn Fernstrom, Ph.D., the health and nutrition editor for NBC News, noted that you might also choose to avoid eating red meat and instead concentrate on eating fish.

4. The vegan diet should be completed by 6:00 p.m., followed by an additional mixed dinner, as suggested by Mark Bittman in his book 'VB6.'
