Blue Bell Recall is now including more products manufactured at its now foreclosed plant in Broken Arrow. This time, the Texas-based Blue Bell Creameries is recalling banana pudding ice cream pints and other creameries that tested positive for listeriosis.
Blue Bell Recall comes after three deaths have been reported in Kansas. Those products were found to be contaminated with listeria.
This time, Blue Bell Recall expands to its Banana Pudding Ice Cream pints and other products with codes ending in S or T and were manufactured on from Feb. 12 to March 27, NewsOK reported.
Blue Bell Recall is also covering ice cream products with different flavors including mint chocolate chip, dutch chocolate cookies 'n cream, butter crunch, moo-ilennium crunch, and homemade vanilla, the Fox59 reported.
Aside from the mentioned products, the company is also recalling pints and quarts of sherbert and 3 oz. cups with flavors rainbow, mixed berry and orange.
Although there is no reported illness being linked to the Blue Bell ice cream products, the company voluntarily took the action to avoid any possible health risk and spread of listeriosis.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention states that listeria bacteria can survive in very low temperature and even freezing and can contaminate foods including inappropriately processed deli meats, or unpasteurized milk products.
It can affect people with weak immune systems, pregnant women and newborns. It is one of the major food borne illnesses affecting 1, 600 Americans every year.
Blue Bell website indicates in its press release that Blue Bell Recall products were distributed to retail outlets, convenience stores and food service accounts, and supermarkets.
Those products were distributed in different states including Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and Wyoming.
