Seinfeld Hulu Deal: Find Out How Much Hulu Pays Sony For EACH Streamed ‘Seinfeld’ Episode!

The show famously "about nothing" that has been widely considered the best sitcom of all time for the past 20 years has just reached one of the biggest streaming giants in the US, as the new "Seinfeld" Hulu deal is finally finished.

The "Seinfeld" Hulu deal marks the first time since the new wave of streaming content began that the Manhattan-based show appears on this platform, and while the deal's terms are fairly secret, the first reports of the actual sum have been released - and it's one of the most expensive syndication deals ever.

The show that made superstars out of Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, Michael Richards and Julia Louis-Dreyfus has remained remarkably relevant since its first episode aired in 1989, and the new "Seinfeld" Hulu deal proves that once again.

According to The New York Post, the multi-million dollar "Seinfeld" Hulu deal is reportedly valued at about $700k per episode (though reports vary to say it may have even reached $900 per episode), which, considering the show ran for 180 episodes, would mean about $160 million for the entire series.

Reportedly, profits of the deal will be split between Sony TV, Time Warner's Castle Rock and the profit participants of the show, including Jerry and co-creator Larry David.

The New York Times reports that before the "Seinfeld" Hulu deal was completed, competing streaming giants Netflix and Amazon also bid for the well-beloved show, as these three companies fight for the title of having the biggest and most important online streaming library.

For now, it's Apple and Netflix taking on the biggest spots in the industry, but Hulu's massive move towards the Larry David-written show could start changing things up.

Variety reports that the new "Seinfeld" Hulu deal follows last year's Netflix move to purchase the streaming rights to "Friends," another landmark show.
