Game of Thrones: Mastodon Band Members Play Wildlings Alongside Kit Harington [PHOTOS]

Fans of metal band Mastodon must have thought some of the wildlings in the latest Game of Thrones episode looked familiar.

Drummer Brann Dailor as well as guitarists Brent Hinds and Bill Kelliher had small roles as some of the Free Folk in the episode 'Hardhome.' In an interview with Prog, Kelliher revealed that the band happened to be in the right place at the right time.

"It just so happened that we were starting a tour and they were shooting a scene in Belfast the day before," the guitar player said. "So the stars aligned and we were able to fly in a day early, quickly get there and jump into a scene. There was a lot of playing dead which contrary to popular belief is not that easy to do. I actually fell asleep, laying down on the ground with my battle axe by the water because I was so jet-lagged."

Dailor also spoke to Pitchfork about the experience.

"I watched my best friends Brent and Bill, murdered right in front of me as I myself was stabbed in the stomach and had my throat slit multiple times, and I didn't mind at all," said the drummer. "It made me love being in Mastodon even more. We are more than privileged and honored to have been a part of one of the greatest stories ever told on film, and the catering wasn't bad either."

The three band members also got their picture taken with Jon Snow himself, Kit Harington. Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju) joins them in the photo as well.

Mastodon has recorded a song called 'White Walker,' which was included in the Game of Thrones mixtape 'Catch the Throne Vol. 2.' It has also been revealed that executive producer Dan Weiss is a big fan of the band and had extended the invitation to appear in 'Hardhome.'
