NY Police Investigate Prison Worker As Accomplice In Prison Break

A female employee at the Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora NY was reportedly questioned due to a suspicion of being an accomplice in the escape of the two convicts, David Sweat and Richard Matt. The female employee in question was removed from the NY state prison, although it is not clear what her position in the prison was. "We're going through the civilian employees and private contractors first," said New York State Gov. Andrew Cuomo during an iterview on NBC's the "Today" show.

David Sweat, 34 years old, was convicted with life imprisonment with no chance of parole for the murder of a sheriff's Deputy way back in 2002. While Richard Matt, 48 years old, was sentenced to 25 years to life imprisonment for the kidnapping, dismembering, and killing of his former boss back in 1997. The convicts were last seen inside the prison on Friday, June 5.

Prison guards discovered the inmates beds inside the prison were stuffed with clothes to serve as decoys for the escaped convicts in an attempt to fool the guards doing their rounds. Though there are still things which are unclear as to how long Sweat and Matt prepared their escape from prison, or what power tools they used, or how they were able to hide the holes that they made.

Police believe that Sweat and Matt had more than one person help them in their escape from prison. There is still no word about their whereabouts, but Police are still continuing there search for the escaped convicts. New York State Correction Officers have already set up multiple roadblocks in which cars were stopped for inspection. Though the search for the convicts continues, the increase in police presence has made citizens in and around the community feel more safe and well protected but there is still constant reminder that the people take care in and out of their homes while these escaped convicts remain on the loose.
