Kate Middleton Photo Controversy: Will Topless Pictures Be Banned by French Court on Tuesday?

At noon on Tuesday, a French court will decide if the photos of topless Kate Middleton can be halted under privacy laws in France.

The Associated Press reported that lawyers for the British royal couple as well as those for the Italian publisher that owns 'Closer', the French gossip magazine, were heard by a French court. The outcome of the rule is expected Tuesday at noon in regards as whether the Duchess of Cambridge's privacy was breached by French Closer Mag.

A "grotesque" invasion of the couple's privacy is what St. James' Palace called the publications. Even though the Palace has said that any case is entirely up to the French authorities, the photographer(s) may face criminal prosecution, since they have filed a criminal complaint after the French edition of 'Closer' published the photos Friday.

According to the 'AP', the royal couple's lawyer, Aurelien Hamelle, told the French court Monday that he is seeking €5,000 ($6,550) in damages from Closer and an injunction forcing the magazine to stop publishing the issue with the photos. He also asked the court to fine Closer €10,000 ($13,100) a day for each day the injunction is not respected, and €100,000 ($131,000) if the photos are sold.
