Plane Crashes Into American Home, Killing 3 Aboard - Residents Escape

The Police reported that on Sunday evening a small plane crashed into a house in Plainville, Massachusetts. The aircraft departed from Lancaster Airport in Pennsylvania and was headed to Norwood Memorial Airport in Massachusetts. Jim Peters of the Federal Aviation Administration said, the Beechcraft BE36 aircraft crashed into a at about 5:45 p.m.

Officials said the crash killed three people onboard the aircraft, the pilot and two passengers, including a child. The victim's identity could not be released yet until their relatives are notified.

The residents of a stately Colonial home ran to safety outside, as the plane crashed and engulfed their house in flames.

Stephen D. Coan, State Fire Marshal said, that the four occupants of the house were able to escape miraculously given the extensive damage to their home.

The couple and their two children who lived in the house are identified by the neighbors as the Rice family.

A statement by Massachusetts State Police: "As a result of the plane crash, the house immediately caught fire. The four occupants of the single family home were able to get out of the building before it became fully engulfed in flames. The three occupants of the plane were killed in the crash."

The Sun Chronicle was told by Mike Brow, a neighbor of the Rice's, that when he heard the plane, he was outside his house barbecuing, Brown said the plane's engine sounded like it was making a series of soft explosions then he heard a crash and saw smoke.

David Procopio, State Police spokesman said, the crash site was swarmed by police and emergency medical personnel. Also in the scene were State Police dispatched homicide detectives and patrols as well as crime scene technicians and troopers from the Fire Marshal's office.

The State Officials stated that, the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) will arrive at the crash site today, and as the investigation is ongoing. The FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) will initiate the investigation and the NTSB will establish the probable cause for the crash.
