Terminator Genisys: Why the Director Said Studios Pay too Much Attention to the Internet?

Terminator Genisys director Alan Taylor was appreciated when he did not avoid the question when recently asked about what seemed to be incredibly spoiler-filled trailers and marketing for the upcoming sequel.

Director Alan Taylor had an interview with Uproxx, the interviewer said to the director that they wished that they hadn't known the plot details from the movie trailer. Director Taylor answered, "Yeah, it's funny; I certainly directed those scenes with the intention that no one would know. One of my favorite moments - and I think Jason Clarke did a great job with it - is when he walks into the hospital in 2017 and everything from there until the turn, you're supposed to think, Oh man, this is great."

Terminator Genisys trailer did not just show scenes of old Arnold Schwarzenegger battling with a CG version of his 1984 self from the original ,The Terminator, but it also revealed that Jason Clarke's 'John Connor' character in the new film is in fact a Terminator.

Director Taylor said that there was a challenging calculus going on with the people who market the film and they finally decided that it was the right thing to do. Taylor said, "They were concerned that people were misperceiving this as kind of a reboot, and none of us wanted to reboot two perfect movies by James Cameron. I think they felt they had to do something game-changing in how the film was being perceived."

Spoiling a film's twist as an interesting way to look for marketing  is what director Taylor considered as a game changer. The director was pointing out that the film's marketing was based on a "very wary audience".

The Terminator Genisys movie marketing scheme has been accounted by Taylor that it had more than just a few ups and downs, Taylor stated: "I hope everybody understands that was EW (Entertainment Weekly) doing what it was going to do," he said. "I was surprised they went off and did that and we didn't see it until it was on the cover and we thought, What the...?"

The 2017 Terminator: Genisys 2 is already slated to open, and with a third film set for 2018.
