Is Nintendo Wii U Coming To An End?

Rumors about the Nintendo Wii U console's impending extinction continue to go around the gaming industry, as the tech company revealed the upcoming NX console that is set out to phase the former.

The gaming device was first introduced at the E3 event in 2011 following the iconic Wii gaming system.

Contrary to the spreading news, Nintendo released a statement, telling its fans that the console will not be neglected even after the NX will be released. Satoru Iwata, the company CEO assured the gaming enthusiast with his words during the Q&A with its investors.

"Regarding your concern about what will happen to Wii U or what will happen to Nintendo 3DS, NX is a new platform, so the install base will have to be built up from zero," the CEO explained.

The head of the multinational company further explained that a definite number of 3DS and Wii U consoles already present in the market by the time the Nintendo NX is released. As a business institution, it would be wasteful if they cease selling the titles.

Iwata added that while they are developing NX for its scheduled release, they are also busy brainstorming on how to keep developing software for the Wii U and Nintendo 3DS.

The Nintendo NX is believed to be launched in the year 2016, however critics are doubtful that the company will meet the targeted release date. Many believe that next year would be a far-fetched schedule for the product to be unveiled.

The Japanese gaming company has been struggling in maintaining its sales as it faces its biggest competitors, Sony and Microsoft. Nintendo even gained disappointed fans during the annual E3 event last month.
