'Minder' Actor George Cole Passes Away At 90

English actor George Cole, whose acting career spanned for more than 70 years and became known for playing the character Arthur Daley in the hit drama show 'Minder' died at the age of 90. 

Following a short illness, Cole died in the hospital with his son Toby and wife Penny by his bedside. Before his death, the veteran actor had reportedly asked his director to hurry up as he wanted to make one more film.

Director Spencer Hawken shared about his last conversation with Cole which happened last year, where he told the actor that the supposed movie, 'Road Rage' had been delayed.

"The last time I spoke to George was to let him know the movie had been delayed and he said 'please get a move on', I would like to make another movie before I die'," Spencer said. "I am absolutely mortified."

Cole, whose real name is George Edward Cole appeared in countless TV shows, sitcoms and movies. Few of his most remembered on-screen appearances aside from 'Minder', included 'Take Me High', 'Scrooge', 'The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh', 'Flight Path', 'The Good Life' and 'My Good Friend'.

One of Cole's colleagues Dennis Waterman, has paid tribute to his deceased friend in the industry, saying "F---king hell it's a long time we've known each other. He was just one of the nicest blokes in the world and we loved working together."

Waterman went on saying, "I am so sad to hear of George's death. His family must be devastated, and I am absolutely certain that anybody who ever knew him, will feel the same."

More of George Cole's friends in the industry also did not miss out in paying tribute to the late actor, describing him as someone 'immaculate' and 'unforgettable'.

One of whom was Roger Moore, who said, "How sad to hear George Cole has gone to that great cutting room in the sky. A lovely actor. A gentleman."
