Lowe’s Delivery Under Fire, African American Driver Replaced Over Skin Color Upon Racist Customer’s Request

North Carolina-based company Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse has been a staple of the industry for decades after being funded in the late 40s, but now Lowe's delivery system is under heavy fire from the press as it has been discovered it follows some dreadfully racist practices.

Although at this point in time, right in the middle of 2015, it should be ridiculous that someone is taken off their job solely because of the color of their skin, Lowe's delivery has done just that, as an African American worker is currently accusing his manager of releasing him from his driving duties after a customer complained about the color of his skin.

According to USA Today, Marcus Bradley, a black man who has been employed at the company for 11 years, was making his route as Lowe's delivery man when his superior contacted him suddenly and asked him to go back to the store, then sending another driver to make that delivery.

When Bradley asked why he wasn't allowed to perform that particular Lowe's delivery gig, his manager simply replied that it was because of the color of his skin and that the client had called to request a white driver for the job.

Bradley spoke to WSET-TV about the Lowe's delivery incident and the story became viral, prompting many news outlets around the country to pinpoint the company over its lack of support for its workers, while Bradley admitted he'd continue to work with them but wished they'd acted differently.

"We've reached out to the drivers and one of our senior executives went to the store to apologize to them in person," Lowe's spokeswoman Chris Ahearn told The Washington Post. "We have zero tolerance for discrimination of any kind, and we should never have accepted the terms of the sale with the individuals who were delivered to."

It has been revealed that following the incident, the Lowe's delivery manager in question was fired.
