Patrick the Wombat Gets Tinder Account

Patrick, the giant marsupial gets a Tinder account for its 30th birthday. The cuddly wombat celebrated his 30th birthday at a Victorian Wildlife Park over the weekend. This giant creature has collected a total of 32,000 followers on his personal Facebook page but even with all the fame, he is still unable to find a mate. That spurred his handlers to give him a special present, a Tinder account as reported in Mail Online.

He was given his very own wheelbarrow, heaps of presents and mouth-watering cake. Ballarat Wildlife Park owner Julia Leonard said Patrick was enjoying all the attention when he celebrated his week-long birthday.

Despite his handlers' best efforts, the gigantic marsupial has not found his mate. It may be due to his weight which is almost 40 kilograms or maybe simply because he is the world's oldest wombat. However, those who know Patrick beg to differ. Park visitors said that he is a true gentleman at heart, greeting park visitors in his own special bright blue wheelbarrow when he was younger.

Patrick is currently searching for a soul mate that he can share his pastimes with. Leonard said, "He's on Tinder and hoping to attract a similar female. He's after someone who enjoys late nights, especially dusk and dawn, can dig a good hole and enjoys feeding him carrots."

Patrick was actually an orphan. He was rescued by his owners on the side of the road in 1986. "His secret to his long life is that he has been well looked after," added Leonard. The team tried to release him back into the wild on several occasions, however his timid nature will not last him long in that environment. So he remained an adored resident at the Ballard Wildlife Park instead.

According to ABC, his inability to connect with female wombats was because he was too much of a SNAW, a sensitive, new-age wombat. "The male wombat has to be very aggressive towards the female, and Patrick just isn't a very aggressive wombat", Leonard added. Hopefully that would change real soon.
