‘Agents Of SHIELD’ Season 3: Former NFL Player Matthew Willig Joins Marvel Cinematic Universe As ‘Wild Card’ Inhuman Lash

With the introduction of the concept of the Inhumans over the past season, the first Marvel Cinematic Universe series has turned into something entirely new from what it was at its start, and that's exactly what they're staying with now, as new "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 news go public.

Ahead of the September premiere of the "Agents of SHIELD" season 3, the cast has found itself a new Inhuman, Lash, which will be played by retired National Football League star Matthew Willig, who has been taking a new step into acting over the past few years, including roles in "Wild Card" and "Brooklyn Nine-Nine."

According to TV Line, the former offensive tackle has been cast as an antagonist in the "Agents of SHIELD" season 3, in a character called Lash that has been described as a "wild card" in the show, as the team led by Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg) delves deeper into this new turf with this ancient race of enhanced humans.

Last Wednesday, Marvel's website released the full cast for the "Agents of SHIELD" season 3, including the return of old characters as well as old ones; besides Willig, other actors joining the show will include Constance Zimmer (as a "highly-skilled and somewhat mysterious leader" of the Advanced Threat Containment Unit), Andrew Howard as her partner and Juan Pablo Raba as a new Inhuman called Joey.

As usual with a show so focused on espionage (even if this espionage also includes superheroes and aliens), it'll be hard to keep track of the characters' true allegiances on the "Agents of SHIELD" season 3.

According to Cinema Blend, Lash was introduced to the world inside the Marvel Comics last year on "Inumans #1," as a "brutish Inhuman who is able to absorb and convert energy."

The "Agents of SHIELD" season 3 will premiere on Tuesday, September 29 on ABC, on its same timeslot.
