But many were disappointed to see that Taylor's boyfriend Calvin Harris was not featured in the video. Instead, it is filled with many swoon-worthy moments between the singer and Scott Eastwood.
However, a new fan theory began circulating on Tumblr saying claiming that Taylor's real-life beau was actually present in the music video. The DJ played an important role and was featured in almost the entire video.
The theory claims that the African lion is the representation of Calvin and his love for the songwriter. It can be noticed in the video that the singer spends a lot of time posing and sitting next to the lion. The lion seems to be watching over Taylor and protecting her as she endeavors with the character of Eastwood. Whenever they have a fight, the lion looks over her until as she mends her broken heart.
The lion's behavior seems to represent Calvin's love and protection for Taylor. Another proof is the new Instagram profile picture of the 31-year-old model which is a lion which he had on Sunday night during the VMAs. That is the same night when the award winning singer launched the music video.
The romance, drama, hunky lead and exotic animals just hinder viewers from noticing the presence of Calvin.
