Sienna Miller was set to star in "Black Mass" with Johnny Depp. However, it seems as though no one will be seeing her in the film anymore, as her role has "landed on the cutting room floor."
"Black Mass" director Scott Cooper spoke to The Boston Globe, and explained that even though she was "fantastic" alongside Johnny Depp and Catherine Greig, "It came down to narrative choices."
Sienna Miller must be sad to hear the news, given that she did a lot of preparation for her role. Talking to The Boston Globe last year, Miller shared:
"The accent was something I really focused on because playing someone from Southie, you don't want to mess that up. Hopefully I've managed to pull that off, although I think everyone's like, 'How can you be English and think you can do that?'"
In the true-crime thriller, Johnny Depp plays the role of Whitey Bulger, a real-life Boston mobster. Bulger ends up being sentenced to life in prison for several crimes after a manhunt spanning 16 years.
Sienna Miller was supposed to play the role of Whitey Bulger's girlfriend, and as E! News puts it, "but because of his years as a man on the run with Miller's character were 'less dramatic,' her scenes did not make the final edit."
However, Sienna Miller did make it clear that her role was simply a "cameo." She also added that she had an "amazing time working with Johnny Depp, who I think is extraordinary and Scott Cooper, the director, who's made some amazing films as well."
