Google Adds 900 Health Related Materials In Its Database

Google has just released in its database additional 900 health conditions which will help web surfers know more about health and wellness.

Health conditions are the most frequent topics searched on the Internet. Last February, Google has released 400 conditions relating to health and medical contents. For further update, the company is now planning to increase the website's information in medicine and health by adding 900 health related materials.

This means that when a person searches about certain health conditions or diseases, a search box will pop up on the right side of the search results which will display important information such as symptoms, treatments and others.

For instance, when a person Googles a certain health condition like "Legionnaires' disease", the search platform will provide the summarized facts about the condition including substantial information. The beneficial move of the multinational tech company will also give the different pharmaceutical brands opportunities to advertise their products on the website, from consumer goods to nutrition.

Prem Ramaswami, the product manager at Google, stated thru a blog post the necessity of adding health conditions in their search database.

"We're making sure to include neglected tropical diseases, a set of infections that affect over 1.5 billion people including 500 million children in poorer regions. We think it's important for people to have facts on these diseases, such as Dengue Fever Chikungunya, and Leishmaniases," stated by Prem.

Google created a partnership with a group of trusted medical professionals to make the released information reliable and true. In order to make the information accurate, the medical contents involved are thoroughly reviewed by Mayo Clinic and some medical authorities at Google.

As for now, the new feature of Google will only be available in English language. The company is planning to expand it and add different languages as soon as possible.
