Samsung Develops Smartphones With 6GB RAM For Faster Performance

Samsung is now developing a new DRAM for smartphones to have a maximum memory of 6GB. The South Korean company is starting to produce the world's first 12GB LPDDR4 mobile DRAM chips which will lead in manufacturing new smartphones with higher RAM capacity.

According to Samsung, the new 12 GB LPDDR4 is much quicker than the conventional 20nm based 8GB version. The latest technology offers a 30% faster speed at 4,266Mbps and is also expected to consume less energy.

The 12 GB version is said to be twice faster than the DDR4 DRAM for Desktops and PC's. The company is anticipating that the new device will not be limited to smartphones only, but will also be available for those who are manufacturing ultra-slim PCs, digital devices and automotive appliances.

As of the moment, most of the flagship smartphones only come with a 3GB on board memory. The new device can help different smartphone manufacturers double their DRAM capacity. This can then provide a much faster performance alongside the operating system.

Samsung said in a statement that if the new device is incorporated with the right operating system environments, it can achieve a maximum performance and can enhance multitasking.

Furthermore, despite the fact that bigger memory usually means bigger size, Samsung stated that they can improve performance without sacrificing dimension. This means that the new memory can still fit in with the present 3GB memory slot.

In a statement by Joo Sun Choi, they are now planning to mass produce the device in order to give avid customers a new level of user experience.

"By initiating mass production of 12Gb LPDDR4 mobile DRAM in an extremely timely manner, we now are not only helping OEMs to accelerate their moves to the next generation of mobile devices, but also providing functionality that will give mobile consumers greatly enhanced user experiences," stated by the executive vice president of Memory Sales and Marketing at Samsung Electronics.
