Pomi Goes Organic With Tomato Line

In search for healthier options when it comes to food, companies have been using different ways to advertise their products, giving them less fat percentage, less cholesterol and such. But what about the canned products, how are they dealing with the new fad in presenting healthier produce? Are they also jumping on the bandwagon? One of the premium Italian brands, Pomi, proudly uses no additives whatsoever in their products.

Italian tomato processor Conzorio Casalasco del Pomodoro has expanded its core branded line Pomi, with its new range of organic tomatoes. Pomi is an Italian passata or strained tomatoes that were originally produce in Italy in 1935; and on 1982, the company was successfully introduced in the United States. They are famous for packaging their produce in Bisphenol A (BPA)-free and stay-fresh packages.

The Italian tomato line is one of the most trusted brands all over the United States. They are adamant about having 100 percent BPA free packaging, as well as 100 percent Genetically Modified Organism (GMO). And they are also proud to add no preservative, artificial flavors or water in their products.

BPA is a chemical component used in the manufacturing of plastics and resins since the 1960s. Most of the plastic and resins that has BPA are those that are used in food and beverage containers. It is also use to coat canned goods.

In studies done, people who ate canned soup for five days straight saw there urinary levels of chemical BPA spike 1,200 percent compared to the ones who consumed fresh soup. Even the Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) admitted to the fact that BPA is not good, but they are powerless against the use of the chemical. BPA is an endocrine-disrupting chemical pervasive in our food due to it lining our canned goods and many of the plastic packaging of our food.
