Kevin Hart Arrested: Actor Arrested In California On Suspicion Of Drunken Driving

Actor Kevin Hart was arrested Sunday morning on the suspicion of drunk driving, according to The Los Angeles Times.

The incident occurred around 4:30 a.m. when the comedian was caught "speeding down the westbound 101 Freeway in a black Mercedes SLS at 90 mph," according to The Los Angeles Times.

According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) statement, the car was "driving erratic" and weaving across lanes. Apparently, the situation almost became deadly when Hart's SLS nearly collided with a gas tanker truck.

CHP was finally able to pull Hart over at the Haskell Avenue exit after a brief pursuit.

The CHP statement continued, "Mr. Hart had objective signs of intoxication and was unable to perform the field sobriety tests."

He was then arrested and brought to LAPD's Valley Jail in Van Nuys at around 6 a.m. After spending the morning in jail, Hart was released on $5,000 bail at 1:19 p.m. He will now have to appear in court on May 9, according to The LA Times.

Although the CHP report made it sound like Hart's life was in danger, the comedian seemed to laugh off his arrest by taking to Twitter after his release.

"When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said 'WHY WASTE OUR TIME ... I'M DRUNK MAN #TrueStory," the Tweet stated. It has since been removed.

TMZ also caught up with Hart when he was released from jail and asked him about the event.

"I was actually drunk, so there's no arguing that," he said.

Hart, perhaps still drunk from the evening before, released a few more comedic Tweets before signing off.

"I'm officially a thug, I spent 6hrs in jail last night...I got pulled over 3blocks from my house by a dick head cop...This cop was the worst, he knew who I was & wanted to make a example out of me," according to E! Online.

He continued his TWI (Tweeting While Intoxicated) rant by saying, "I did 6,000 push ups & 13,000 sit ups while I was in the pin....shout out to my celly "Mark" we exchanged war stories LMFAO...When the cop asked me to take the sobriety test I said "WHY WASTE OUR TIME...I'M DRUNK MAN" ..... #TrueStory."

However, he did take time to address the seriousness of the situation and digressed "On some real shit....drinking & driving is not a game or a laughing matter. People have lost lives because of stupid s**t this! This is a wake up call for me, I have to be smarter & last night I wasn't....everything happens for a reason...."
