After Blake Lively gave birth to baby James in 2014, her husband Ryan Reynolds sent a few super intimate photos from the delivery room to his closest family and closest friends, but one of the people he trusted stabbed him in the back.
The individual was luckily caught before any pics were leaked, but in a new interview with GQ, Ryan opened up about the dark period he lived through after finding out about it.
The 38-year-old revealed in the October 2015 issue of GQ that he was forced to cut off one of his closest friends recently, after the person attempted to sell photos of his baby daughter, James.
"A guy that I’d known for my whole life, one of my closest friends growing up, he had been shopping pictures of my baby around," revealed the Deadpool star, who shares 9-month-old James with his wife, Blake Lively. "I kind of got in front of it, which is good. But it was a slightly dark period. A bad couple of weeks."
Ryan Reynolds noted that the culprit was someone he'd known for most of his life. "Somebody I grew up with, yeah. Somebody I’ve known, who’s been one of my closest friends, for 25 years," he elaborated. "It was like a death. It was like one of those devastating things to find out."
When asked why he thought his friend betrayed him, Ryan Reynolds responded, “Just for money. I mean, I don’t think he thought he would ever be caught. But it’s a pretty narrow group of people that I would send photos like that to. They’re just, like, my closest family and my closest friends: ‘Here’s us in the delivery room!’"
Ryan Reynolds said he had to ultimately cut the person off. "It was, like, so kind of shocking," he told GQ. "There isn’t really a conversation to have. It’s just, ‘Oh, well, now I’m never going to see you or talk to you again, unfortunately.’ That’s kind of how it worked out."
