Sean Penn Net Worth: Actor Suing 'Empire' Co-Creator Lee Daniels for $10 Million [PHOTOS]

Sean Penn has just filed a lawsuit against "Empire" co-creator Lee Daniels, where he is seeking to claim for damages worth a whopping $10 million.

E! News was able to take a look at the documents, which were filed on Tuesday in the New York Supreme Court.

The documents stated that Lee Daniels' recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter wrongly alleges Sean Penn of physical abuse on women.

In the said interview, Lee Daniels talked about Terrence Howard's recent legal issues regarding the lawsuit with his ex-wife Michelle Ghent, accusing the "Empire" actor of domestic violence.

"[Terrence] ain't done nothing different than Marlon Brando or Sean Penn, and all of a sudden he's some f-kin' demon. That's a sign of the time, of race, of where we are right now in America," Lee Daniels said in the interview.

Based on the lawsuit documents, 55-year-old Sean Penn deems the statement "reckless, false, and defamatory," given that Terrence Howard has "reportedly, and publicly, admitted to physically abusing at least one woman and reportedly been arrested approximately five times for violent acts against women."

Not only that, but Sean Penn also says that Lee Daniels' criticisms are "egregious on several levels." For one, Penn thinks that "Daniels not only appears to acknowledge Howard's guilt, he also seems to condone Howard's reported misconduct."

While on the other hand, according to the lawsuit, Sean Penn considers Lee Daniels' "improper invocation of two of the greatest actors and humanitarians of our time" is a fragment of a "misguided campaign to profit and further bolster his show 'Empire.'"

Not only that, but the complaint also states:

"Daniels falsely equates Penn with Howard, even though, while he has certainly had several brushes with the law, Penn (unlike Howard) has never been arrested much less convicted, for domestic violence, as his ex-wives (including Madonna) would confirm and attest."

Sean Penn net worth is $150 million.
