Did Zack Snyder Meet With HBO To Talk About A 'Watchmen' TV Series?

Before the world was bombarded with comic book adaptations and superhero films, Zack Snyder actually worked on the critically acclaimed 'Watchmen.' The comic book series, which was created by Alan Moore, happens to have a rather complicated storyline that extends throughout 12 issues.

Due to the intricacy of the 'Watchmen' plot, the live action adaptation ended up having to focus on a limited story that barely translated on the big screen. However, it looks like Zack Snyder may have found a solution in giving the 'Watchmen' story more justice.

According to Collider, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' director has recently met with HBO executives about a 'Watchmen' TV series.

"Our sources tell us that the meetings about adapting the DC Comics property have taken place, but unfortunately we don't have any details as to whether this would be a prequel series, a re-imagining of the events of the 'Watchmen' story itself, or a sequel series," the site reported.

Although any details about the meeting have not yet been reported, Collider also has some speculations on what the 'Watchmen' TV series will cover.

"Enter 'Before Watchmen,' a 2012 prequel series of comic books from DC Comics," the site wrote. "These eight character-centric limited series (and one one-shot) served as background for Moore's original 1986 12-issue series, and it stands to reason they could very well be the stories that Snyder intends on bringing to HBO as a TV prequel series."

After Collider ran the story, HBO immediately ran the following statement:

"Preliminary discussions regarding 'Watchmen' have occurred but we have no additional information and no deals are in place."

The 2009 'Watchmen' movie featured Billy Crudup as Jon Osterman/Dr. Manhattan, Patrick Wilson as Daniel Dreiberg/Nite Owl, Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Edward Morgan Blake/The Comedian, Malin Akerman as Laurie Jupiter/Silk Spectre II and Jackie Earle Haley as Walter Kovacs/Rorschach.
