Stephen Colbert Wowed by Video Game 'No Man's Sky', Calls Developer God

Stephen Colbert's iteration of the Late Show continues to impress with its wide selection of guests. In just a little over 2 weeks on the air, Colbert has interviewed men and women from fields not usually tackled by late night talk shows. In addition to your usual celebrities (George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson), he's talked to notable names in Tech (Uber CEO Travis Kalanick, Tesla's Elon Musk), Politics (Jeb Bush, Joe Biden) and the Internet (Youtube star Pewdiepie).

Now Colbert is giving the world of video games some major network airtime. The sight of games on late night isn't as rare an occurrence as some of the other fields. Colbert's rivals have had many successful (Conan O'Brien's clueless gamer segment) and not so successful (Jimmy Kimmel's failed critique of Youtube gaming) attempts at using the game world to comedic effect.

Still, it's pretty seldom that an actual video game developer is given the chance to take a seat and show off his creation. But that's exactly what happened last night, when Hello Games founder Sean Murray was invited to show off the highly anticipated No Man's Sky.

The game has been among the industry's most talked about since its reveal 2 years ago. The title puts you in the role of a space explorer trying to make his way to the center of the universe. It features a procedurally generated galaxy of potentially millions of planets, each filled with a unique ecosystem, terrain, and flora and fauna.

Not much is known beyond that, but every time it pops up on showcases such as this, you can't help but be impressed by the scale of the game.

"It's beautiful to look at, and awe-inspiring like a night sky," Said Colbert. "To know the vastness and the capability of it."
