New 'X-Files' TV Spot Features Skeptical Mulder! Has The X-Files Been A Lie? [VIDEO]

It seems like the world went crazy over the final 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' trailer that only a few people noticed that a new teaser for 'The X-Files' has been released. The new promo spot was released on Monday and offers a slightly different Fox Mulder.

How is Agent Mulder different in the TV ad titled 'What If?' Well, for one, he is starting to question the X-Files.

The promo spot opens with Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) looking up at a surveillance camera as he intones, "What's behind us, those that makes us safer, have never been in more danger." The scene then shows Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) with Mulder as they both show their badges and introduce themselves in their iconic manner.

The TV ad features a few new scenes including a mysterious man walking down the stairs, someone stomping on Mulder's 'I Want To Believe' poster and 'X-Files' alum Mrs. Peacock fixing her hair. At one point, Mulder and Scully find themselves in a dark place shining their flashlights with their guns out.

"What if our work, the X-Files, everything we've been led to believe in is a lie?" Mulder asks. Assistant Director Walter Skinner (Mitch Pileggi) responds, "Then you do something about it."

The new 'X-Files' event series will feature six new episodes that could possibly give the show the conclusion it deserves. In addition to the return of David Duchovny, Gillian Anderson and Mitch Pileggi, William B. Davis is set to reprise his role as the Cigarette-Smoking Man or Cancer Man, as Mulder prefers to call him. Annabeth Gish returns as Special Agent Monica Reyes as well.

'The X-Files' revival also stars Joel McHale, Robbie Amell, Lauren Ambrose, Kumail Nanjiani , Annet Mahendru and Rhys Darby. The series will premiere on Fox on January 25, 2016.
