Wanderlust Benefits: Studies Reveal That Travelling Keeps Both the Heart and the Brain Healthy

Travellers would be thrilled upon finding out that traveling is actually good for the health. As per Huffington Post, "It turns out that it's not whoever has the most stuff wins; it's whomever has had the most experiences wins, and ends up being happier."

Spending on material things may keep us happy, but happiness acquired from material things would eventually ware off. Studies revealed that investing on experiences, rather than material things is the key to long lasting happiness.

A psychology professor from the Cornell University, Dr Thomas Gilovich stated that as human beings, we despise adaptation as humans in nature would eventually get bored upon doing the same thing every day.

"One of our enemies of happiness is adaption, we buy things to make us happy, and we succeed, but only for a little while. New things are exciting to us at first, but then we adapt to them."

Glovich then added:

"Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods, you can really like your material stuff. You can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are a part of you. We're the sum total of our experiences."

LA Times then added that Traveling has the capability to keep both the heat and the brain healthy. They then stated that it keeps you young [or young at heart] and it definitely makes you healthier.

The website then added that the Global Commission on Aging and Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, in partnership with the U.S. Travel Assn. made a research in regards to travelling and correlation to health. Their studies reveal that travel offers the same sort of "physical and cognitive benefits" as doing activities such as crossword puzzles or a trip to the museum.
