First-Ever Burrito Vending Machines Debuts in Los Angeles

Behold the burrito vending machine.

According to ABC News, Los Angeles now has its very own BurritoBox, "the world's first burrito kiosk." BurritoBox is an automated full-service burrito vending machine located in a 24-hour gas station in West Hollywood.

The Burrito Box claims to be the first of its kind in the world, according to its website and is similar in appearance to a RedBox. Customers with a burrito craving can select from a number of snacks than the tangerine-colored machine dispenses pre-made "hot and ready" burritos in 60 seconds.

Made by The Box Brands Inc, the kiosk doesn't offer customized orders, but flavors include chorizo sausage, egg and cheese burrito for breakfast; a shredded beef and cheese burrito and a vegetarian option with roasted potato, egg and cheese for lunch.

Other options include free range chicken with rice, beans, and uncured bacon for dinner. Sides include sour cream, Tabasco sauce and guacamole for an extra fee. Patrons can use their credit card to purchase the $3 dish.

Once a purchase is made the Burrito Box plays a music video while a burrito heats up. ABC News reported that that the burritos are 100 percent natural with no hormones or antibiotics. The breakfast burritos use cage-free eggs. A second location is opening at an Santa Monica 76 station in Century City on Jan. 18.

"It was quick, it's tasty, it's cheap," patron Billy Hamilton told ABC Los Angeles. "I'll be back."

The machine started to gain attention after a reddit user posted a video about his experience using the machine. Fans are asked to post pictures and videos of themselves on the company's instagram doing the "burrito dance" as their burrito cooks.

Food vending machines have become quite the trend in California, giving patrons a chance to purchase juice, cupcakes, even wine.
