‘Power Rangers’ Characters WILL Be Same As ‘Mighty Morphins’ 90s Show, Plus Becky G. Becomes Yellow Ranger

The past few weeks have seen Lionsgate become very busy as they announce the cast of the upcoming reboot of the beloved 90s show, with all five rangers already revealed, it has come out that the "Power Rangers" characters will be the same as they were in the original show.

Late last week, Variety reported that the last cast member of the five Rangers, the yellow one, had been officially cast, with singer-actress Becky G. joining the cast of "Power Rangers" characters to complete the set of five, and now, after weeks of speculation regarding who they'd be playing, the characters have been officially confirmed.

According to IGN, the official Twitter account for the franchise has now officially confirmed that the "Power Rangers" characters set to appear in the 2017 reboot of the series will in fact be the original five, namely Red Ranger Jason (played by Dacre Montgomery), Pink Ranger Kimberly (Naomi Scott), Blue Ranger Billy (RJ Cyler), Black Ranger Zack (Ludi Lin) and the recently cast Yellow Ranger Trini.

"IT'S MORPHIN TIME, Jason, Kimberly, Zack, Billy & Trini! #PowerRangersMovie, coming 2017!" tweeted the official account, thus announcing the "Power Rangers" characters for the upcoming reboot of the entire franchise, which has continued through cult following to this day, even having its own convention, the Morphicon.

It's been over 20 years since the original "Power Rangers" characters came out in 1993, and it'll have been 25 years by the time the reboot film comes out.

The film has cast relatively unknown actors in the lead roles of teens turned into superheroes, and rumor has it they're planning on bringing the big guns with heavier and more famous actors when it comes to casting the villains, though there are still no official statements (or even rumors) about other cast members.

So, prepare to relive the 90s with the new versions of the "Power Rangers" characters!
