Sylvester Stallone Packs Punch With Rocky Fans Ahead of 'Creed' Film

On Friday, once again there was a reason to shout cheers to Philadelphia's favorite fictional son, as the American actor and film director Sylvester Stallone, donned in robes, fedora hats and even boxing boots, while costumed enthusiasts shouted repeatedly "Rocky! Rocky! Rocky!"

Sylvester Stallone, who is famous for his Hollywood action roles, particularly as the boxer Rocky Balboa, the titular role of the seven films of the Rocky series, goes one more round as the character Balboa, in the spinoff of director Ryan Coogler's upcoming American sports drama film "Creed." Before he joins Adrian, Apollo and Paulie in that great squared circle in the sky, Stallone wanted the role to match with the original character.

Sylvester Stallone, whose Rocky films were inducted into the National Film Registry, stated, "There's more to go. I would like to follow this character until eventually he's an angel."

The 69-year-old Sylvester Stallone, who was the writer of the first "Rocky" movie - that received 10 Academy Award nominations, gave good grounds for more movies based on Balboa (Sylvester Stallone) and Adonis' (Michael B. Jordan) Creed. Creed, which was written and directed by Ryan Coogler, is the son of Rocky's heavyweight adversary and his beach running buddy - Apollo Creed. He is the character who persuaded Rocky Balboa out of retirement and into a trainer's chair in the film. It is slated for a November 25 release.

Sylvester Stallone and Creed co-stars Michael B. Jordan (who plays East Dillon High School quarterback Vince Howard in Friday Night Lights) and the American actress who portrayed Jackie Cook on the film noir television series Veronica Mars - Tessa Thompson, along with the American film director and screenwriter - Ryan Coogler and Creed's film producer Irwin Winkler, were present at the celebration of the movie at the top of the Philadelphia Museum of Art steps.
