Dwyane Wade Could Miss All-Star Game Due to Nerve Irritation in His Left Foot

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade is uncertain whether he will be able to play in the upcoming NBA All-Star Game on Sunday due to a nerve irritation in his left foot, the Associated Press reported.

Wade has missed both of the Miami Heat's last two games, sitting out on Tuesday's 103-97 win over the Phoenix Suns with a reported migraine headache. Minutes before he was scheduled to hit the court on Wednesday, Wade announced that he would not be playing, sitting out on the team's 111-110 victory over the Golden State Warriors

The 10-time All-Star said he had numbness in his left foot during pre-game warm-ups. Wade said it was "foot drop," which is explained as the inability to lift the front part of the foot, ESPN reported.

"I started feeling a little something in my foot, getting a little numbness," the 32-year-old Wade said, according to the AP. "But you don't think nothing of it. As time went on it started going up my leg a little bit, so the nerve going up my leg kind of shut down. Weirdest thing I've ever (felt). When I was out there and moved around and warmed up, I felt I couldn't feel my foot. So I didn't want to do anything."

Wade is expected to fly to New Orleans for the NBA's All-Star Weekend but is reportedly unsure if he will take the court.

"First I want this to calm down a little bit and get back to feeling regular and I will go from there," Wade said. "We will see. I'm not optimistic. I'm not pessimistic. I just want to get better."

Wade has missed 13 games this season due to injury and two more games due reported sickness.

According to ESPN, if Wade is unable to play on Sunday's game as an Eastern Conference All-Star and starter, possible replacements could include Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson, Toronto Raptors guard Kyle Lowry, Orlando Magic guard Arron Afflalo and Charlotte Bobcats center Al Jefferson.
