Lehigh Valley Dairy Orange Juice Recall: FDA Reveals Milk Mixture Error

Lehigh Valley Dairy is voluntarily recalling orange juice sold in New Jersey after discovering that the product may contain milk, an undeclared allergen.

The Food and Drug Administration reported that the company is recalling orange juice -- half pints, half gallons and gallons of the Lehigh Valley brand, Swiss Premium brand half gallons and gallons, and Price Choper brand gallons -- after learning that it may have been accidentally mixed with milk, a common allergen.

The incident is reportedly due to a manufacturing error, according to the Allentown-based dairy company.

If consumed by anyone with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, it could result in serious or life-threatening reaction. The FDA has not reported any complaints or allergic reactions from the recalled product.

The recalled products were distributed in West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Washington, D.C. Price Chopper orange juice was only sold in Pennsylvania.

The FDA reported that all affected products have a sell-by date of March 23 and plant code 42-099. Recall products include:

- Gallons of Lehigh Valley (UPC #7047243000), Swiss Premium (UPC #7654500106) and Price Chopper (UPC #4173517135) orange juice.

- Half-gallons of Lehigh Valley (UPC #7047249310) and Swiss Premium (UPC #7654500132) orange juice.

- Half-pints of Lehigh Valley orange juice (UPC #7047243022).

The FDA is asking customers, who have purchased a product affected by the recall, to return it for a full refund or exchange
