Matt and Amy Roloff, stars in the TLC reality series, "Little People, Big World," have decided to separate after 26 years of marriage, according to People magazine.
"Though we have weathered many storms together, we recently made the tough decision to engage in a trial separation," the couple said in a combined statement. "Matt remains living on the farm in our guest house and we work together every day on the farm, on our business endeavors and most importantly, raising our amazing children."
The Roloffs added, "We sincerely appreciate the unwavering support, understanding and prayers from our family, friends and many fans. May God bless you."
The Roloffs address the separation in their new special airing March 25 on TLC, titled "Trial Separation." Matt revealed that he was living in the bridal house on the family's Oregon farm and said that he and Amy began having problems around Thanksgiving.
Amy made it clear that it was Matt's decision, not hers, for him to leave the family home, stating, "I think what Matt and I failed to do over many, many years is learned to live together. It's not my choice for him to leave. I am saddened by it. We don't have a plan as far as how we are going to work this out, so it's not going to be easy.
The couple has four children, twins Jeremy and Zack, 23, Molly, 20, and Jacob, 17. Zack, like his parents, has been diagnosed with dwarfism.
Amy herself told E! News: "We thank our fans for all their support. Matt and I are working together to make sure this transition in our life together goes smoothly for the sake of our children. There is still much love in our home and we appreciate the cooperation of the media in giving us time to mend and heal."
