Massive Fish Tank Bursts Open in Downtown Disney Restaurant

Diners at T-Rex Cafe, a dinosaur-themed Disney restaurant, got a fishy surprise on Monday after a massive fish tank burst, leaking gallons of water into the packed restaurant.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, T-Rex Café in the Downtown Disney entertainment complex in Walt Disney World turned from family-themed fun to outright chaos as water from the tank sent diners scrambling from their seats and workers rushing to save the fish.

As workers reportedly grabbed nets and empty trash cans in order to save the fish, parents fled with their children. There are no reports of losses of fish.

"A seal failed on the tank causing water to leak. Employees took action and did a great job rescuing all of the marine life, caring for our guests and managing the situation," said Landry's, the Houston company that owns T-Rex Cafe, in a statement. "The marine life has been moved to holding tanks and the restaurant is open for business as usual.''

Diner Katie Wallace told the Orlando Sentinel that there was a lot of commotion and said her whole section went crazy. Wallace said workers rushed over to help diners out of the area.

"The staff -- they were doing the best job that they could," Wallace told the Orlando Sentinel. "It was craziness' just kind of people freaking out. It's not something that you see very often. How do you respond to that?"

Some diners stopped to grab a little video of the shocking incident with their phones.

"Was just at T-Rex in Downtown Disney just now and the glass to a giant fish tank just cracked and water started pouring out," another witness, Michael Pappas, posted on Facebook. "Then about four waiters climbed in and started scooping up the fish. It was chaos. Everyone in our section had to leave."

The restaurant remained open as workers cleaned up the mess. A Disney spokeswoman said some tables had to be relocated.
