Zombie-Inspired Beer Made With Actual Brains for the 'Walking Dead'

A Philadelphia brewery has created a special, but gruesome new beer for diehard fans for the AMC's zombie apocalypse television show "The Walking Dead,: Among the ingredients are wheat oats, cranberry and...wait for it...real brains.

According to Foodbeast, Dock Street Brewing Company is releasing a new beer made with smoked goat brains. Appropriately titled the "Walker," the company said the animal organ is cooked over hot coals before being added to the liquid mix.

The release of the zombie-inspired brew will coincide with the season finale of "The Walking Dead." The 7.2 percent brew also includes common ingredients such as malted wheat, oats and flaked barley and fuggle hops. The cranberries reportedly add a "sinister, bloody hue" and "slight tartness."

The American Pale Stout was created by Head Brewer Justin Low and Brewery Rep. Sasha Certo-Ware.

"More often than not, monotonous Monday cleaning rituals (labors of love for brewers everywhere) were spent recapping the previous night's twists, turns, narrow escapes, or untimely goodbyes," the brewery said on its website, "Dock Street wanted to brew a special tribute to the show. "

"The Walking Dead," follows a group of strangers living during a zombie-dominated, post-apocalyptic world. The show, set in Georgia, premiered in 2010 on the AMC network. It was renewed for a fifth season last fall.

The new beverage will debut on March 30 when the brewery hosts its "Walking Dead" season finale party.

Last year, Denver's Wynkoop Brewing Company launched the Rocky Mountain Oyster Stout, a beer made with roasted bull testicles. The beverage was described as an "'assertive foreign-style stout, slightly viscous, with a deep brown color."

Adding: "It has equally deep flavors of chocolate syrup, Kahlua, and espresso, along with a palpable level of alcohol and a savory umami-like note. It finishes dry and roasted with a fast-fading hop bite."
