Nvidia has released again their Shield Tablet K1 but now in a lower price with a slightly difference in design and specs.
Despite some malfunctions with their first release, Nvidia is staying in the tablet industry as they unveiled their new Shield Tablet K1 which is quite similar to the former device.
It can be remembered that the American tech company first launched their original Shield tablet last July of 2015. However, because of issues such as fire hazards due to the overheating batteries, the production was stopped shortly after the release.
According to Richard Parry, the director of product management for tablets in Nvidia, the new launching is in behalf of the avid fans who requested for the Shield tablets. In addition to the fixed issues concerning the fire hazard, the new Shield Tablet K1 now comes with a lower price tag with some minor modifications.
At a price of $199, the user can now enjoy the benefits of a 16GB storage tablet. Compared to the original Shield tablet, the new device is $100 less which will be quite a relief for costumers.
In terms of specifications, the Shield Tablet K1 is an 8.00-inch display device with a resolution of 1920 x 1200. It is powered by a 2.2GHz quad-core Nvidia Tegra K1 processor accompanied with 2GB of RAM. Aside from its 16GB internal storage, the user can also extend its memory up to 128GB with the use of microSD card. The device also contains a 5MP rear and front camera for capturing photos and selfies.
In terms of OS, the new tablet is run by Android 5.0. Other specifications include Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth and sensors like Accelerometer and Gyroscope.
The Nvidia Shield Tablet K1 will face already established tablets in the market such as the Amazon Fire HD 6, Lenovo Yoga 8 and the Google Nexus Android tablet.
