'Star Wars' News: George Lucas Reveals His Favorite Character! Who Loves Jar Jar Binks?

Sometimes you have to ask the director of the long-time running world favorite franchise if he himself has a favorite character. And when George Lucas was asked which Star Wars character would he like most to be? No one would have guessed that it would be Jar Jar Binks.

That's right, Lucas favors Jar Jar Binks, the floppy eared Gungan from the prequels.

Not sure if he's pulling your leg? Jar Jar Binks is the most hated character in the whole franchise. If you're not familiar with this character, Jar Jar Binks is a clumsy Gungan outcast on Naboo and is a major character in Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace and was also seen in Episode II: Attack of the Clones plus a cameo in Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

Primarily he was featured in Phantom Menace as a comic relief for the audience and maybe the cast but didn't receive a positive reaction from the franchise fans.

You got to hand it to Lucas, he remains consistent. "I will say one secret that nobody knows..." Lucas says. In August 2015, he stated that Jar Jar Binks was originally based on Disney's character Goofy. Disney has had a lot of influence on Lucas. "I love Goofy and I love Jar Jar."

His answer led to a separate discussion on why he chose to leave the franchise. "You go to make a movie and all you do is get criticized and people try to make decisions about what you're going to do before you do it," Lucas said. He claims it's not really fun when he couldn't experiment. Ultimately, the long-time famous director just needed a break.

Asked what his thoughts are on the upcoming Star Wars: The Force Awakens movie opening in a month's time? Lucas says, he's "...curious about what happened to Darth Vader's grandkids".
