Take Part And Win In McDonald’s U.K. Holiday Karaoke

Just like the "Carpool Karaoke" during James Corden on "The Late Late Show", McDonald's U.K. hopes to have its own version that will entertain British public.

McDonald's "Journey to Christmas" features an ordinary family of five from getting up in the  morning, putting the gifts inside the car and being ready for a long drive to visit love ones. Together they sing the 1973 hit, "I wish it could be Christmas everyday" but their father refuse to join in. Upon reaching McDonald's drive-thru window, he turned the stereo off to get rid of the noise - but his wife and children still sings happily than ever.

The food giant invites British consumers to share their own Christmas karaoke, and is placing a number of recording booths in sleighs at every shopping mall around the country. The customers who want to join can also engage on what they call "cab-aoke", wherein entries can be recorded at the back of branded taxis that will be roaming all over London, Cardiff and Edinburgh.

The selected winners will abruptly see themselves in the coming 90-second advertisement of the food chain. It will be broadcasted at some point in the commercial of TV's most popular soap opera, 55-year-old "Coronation Street" during Christmas Day.

Steve Hill, head of marketing at McDonald's U.K. released a statement, "Whilst we want to highlight the role that McDonald's can play during the festive period, we also want to encourage a little bit of fun... We're creating the perfect environment for people up and down the country to enjoy themselves and get the chance to feature in our Christmas Day advert."

The strategy is a part of McDonald's "Good Times" campaign and was produced by Leo Burnett together with Razorfish and OMD U.K.

It's somewhat a remembrance of British supermarket chain Sainsbury's "Christmas in a Day," in 2013 that composed of clips given by some people that show how they have a good time during Christmas in their own way.
