5 Things You Do Everyday That Ruin Your Metabolism - Know Why You Should Stop

Metabolism is the process by which your body converts what you eat and drink into energy. During this complex biochemical process, calories in food and beverages are combined with oxygen to release the energy your body needs to function.

However, there are some usual things you unconsciously do that harm or damage it. Avoid the following to stop messing up with your metabolism.

1. You are dehydrated.

Drinking 6 to 8 glasses of water helps you get more energy, decrease appetite, and feel less bloated. Your body is made up of 60% water and you are compelled to fill body’s tank up with approximately two liters per day. Make sure you drink enough water to keep you going. Being hydrated at all times does wonders to your health. 

2. You have increased alcohol intakes.

Since alcohol is being used as fuel instead of fat, drinking liquors or any alcoholic beverages results in the slowing down of your body’s ability to burn fat. Hence, social and occasional drinking is fine, provided you only have a few shots, not more than a single glass. Remember that too much alcohol slows down metabolism.

3. You fail to have a balanced diet.

Processed and ready-to-eat meals, non-organic fruits and vegetables, and other junk foods do not at all help you with your metabolic rate. Going green and organic allows you to maximize the essential nutrients you can get in every bite. Eating too many calories right before bedtime and messing around some diet fads are both unhealthy. 

4. You are not fond of eating nuts.

Nuts are considered to be "super healthy snacks" as they are loaded with protein, and most importantly, polyunsaturated fats that release energy, increase your metabolism, and lower your bad cholesterol. With all these good things about nuts, you should consider including them in your snacks. Adding them up with your salad and other healthy desserts can be a good idea. 

5. You don't exercise at the "right time."

The best time to do your streching and some crunches is in the morning. Try to wake up a bit earlier and go for a jog. This is also a great time to get some fresh sunlight and vitamin D. Indeed, morning exercises aid in releasing energy and activating your brain power for the rest of the day.
